Fact 366: What is the national animal of Wales? Um, yeah, I personally would have never of thought of this in a thousand years which is roughly how long this animal has been Wales' national animal the animal is The red dragon, or in Welsh “Y Ddraig Goch” which is depicted on there flag. Well to be honest lions don't come from England so who am I to judge,  and as far as I know Scotland don't have any Unicorns (I personally didn't see any when I went to the Banksy CUT & RUN exhibition in Glasgow). Northern Ireland don't actually have a national animal.

Barking dog is one of Keith Haring's most iconic and famous M otifs.  Keith Haring first began drawing the dog in public spaces in New York. Barking dog first appeared in New York in Keith Haring's New York subway drawing series from 1980–85. Keith Haring was born on the 4th May 1958, in Reading, Pennsylvania, U.S.A and died on the 16th February 1990 in New York.

Rooms By The Sea by Edward Hooper was produced in 1951 and is considered to be one of the most famous artworks of the Impressionist movement.  Rooms By The Sea is an oil painting produced in 1951 by American painter Edward Hopper. Edward Hopper's  is often regarded as one of the most famous American arts of 20th century . The painting depicts a window that looks out to the sea (although I think the tile speaks for itself).

Fact 356: Who painted The Splash? The Splash is a 1966 pop art painting by the well-known British artist David Hockney. The painting depicts a splash in a Californian swimming pool visited. The Splash painting sold at Sotheby's in London for £23.1million in 2020.  

Fact 355: Who painted Nighthawks? Nighthawks is a 1942 oil-on-canvas painting by the American artist Edward Hopper, Edward Hopper was in born: 22 July 1882 (New York) and died: 15 May 1967 (New York). Edward Hopper's Nighthawks is often regarded as one of the most famous artworks of the 20th century in America. The painting depicts 4 anonymous figures 2 men, 1 woman and a bartender in a midnight scene at 'Phillies' diner. I find this painting is intriguing and fascinating because it raises a lot of questions, for example who are the people and why are they there and is the guy at the back listening in to the 2 people or waiting for someone or on his own, etcetera?

Fact 354: How tall is the Taj Mahal? The Taj Mahal has an area of 17 hectares (42 acres) and was built in 1631 to 1653. Taj Mahal which is a white marble, built in Agra (India) was built by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.  The Taj Mahal is 73 m (240 ft) tall.

Fact 353: Who painted Girl with a Pearl Earring?  irl with a Pearl Earring is an oil on canvas painting which was painted in 1665 by the Johannes Vermeer. The paintings dimensions are 44 cm x 39 cm. The painting is part of the Mauritshuis Collection and is currently located at the Rijksmuseum (2023-2023) in the Netherlands, which is in Amsterdam.

Hadrain's wall was built by the Roman army, who were (unsurprisingly) ordered by the emperor Hadrian following his visit to Britain in AD 122, in AD 122 the wall was 73 miles (80 Roman miles) long, it length stretched from northern Britain at Wallsend on the River Tyne in the east all the way to Bowness-on-Solway in the west. It was originally built as a border to keep out the Scott's.

Fact 350: Who painted Van Gogh's Chair? Van Gogh's Chair is a painting, painted by the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. Van Gogh's Chair was painted in 1888. It is currently located in the National Gallery, (London). The painting shows an off yellow wooden chair, with a straw seat, which is on a tiled floor. On top of the chair is a pipe and a pouch (or handkerchief) with (pipe) tobacco in side. Interestingly 2 similar looking chairs also appear in van Gogh's The Bedroom, which was also painted in October 1888.

Fact 348: When did Andy Warhol first create the Marilyn Monroe screen print painting?  Andy Warhol made his first Marilyn Monroe screen print painting  in 1962 because after Marilyn Monroe died of an overdose of sleeping pills on the 4th August 1962 the news of Monroe's death inspired Andy Warhol to create his first Marilyn Monroe screen print painting. Andy Warhol published his complete portfolio for his Marilyn Monroe prints in 1967. It comprises ten *silkscreen prints. *"silkscreen (printing), also called serigraphy(, serigraphy is a) sophisticated stenciling technique for surface printing, in which a design is cut out of paper or another thin, strong material and then printed by rubbing, rolling, or spraying paint or ink through the cut out areas." (Britannica website, the bits in brackets was me).

The Natural History Museum has about seven million vertebrate, invertebrate and plant fossils in their collection.  The Head of the Museum, which The Natural History Museum refers to as the Director, is Dr Doug Gurr, Dr Doug Gurr was appointed Director of The Natural History Museum in 2020 (in December).  Dr Doug Gurr was the global vice-president and head of Amazon UK from 2016 to 2020.

(Side note) The measurements are from the Encyclopaedia Britannica website and Wikipedia, so if they are not 100% correct or  updated then I am sorry, although the changes of you buying a long tape measure to prove the measurements are wrong is near zero!

Fact 340: How long is the longest bridge in the Great Britain? the longest bridge in Great Britain is called (and is) the Bromford Viaduct it is 5,600m (18372.7 feet) long and connects the M6 motorway between Castle Bromwich and Gravelly Hill together and runs along the River Tame valley in Birmingham, England. The Bromford Viaduct bridge was built between 1964-1972 and it .

Fact 339: How big is the Millennium Bridge in london? The Millennium Bridge which  only takes about 5 minutes to cross (-according to trip advisor), has a total structure length of 325 m (1,066 ft) and the aluminium walk way (the part of Bridge you walk on) has a width is of 4 m (13 ft).

Fact 338: Can Harrier Jump Jets take off Vertically? Yes, impressively the Harrier jump jet can actually take off Vertically and hover like a helicopter, harriers can also fly sideways, fly backwards, and even Vertically land. The Harrier jump jet can do this because its exhaust nozzles, which is the part where the exhaust fuel (gasses) comes out can swivel (move) to change the direction of thrust from the Harrier's jet engine allowing it to move differently to other jets.

The deepest place on Earth, known as Challenger Deep, extends to a depth of more than 11,000 meters (36,000 feet) and is found in the Mariana Trench, in the Pacific."

Fact 335: When did Andy Warhol create Campbell's Soup Cans? Campbell's Soup Cans is a famous art work create by the American Andy Warhol, between November 1961 and March or April 1962 the dimensions of the piece is 51 cm x 41 cm the work of art is hanging in the The Museum of Modern Art, New York City. Andy Warhol was born on the 6th August 1928 and died on the 22nd February 1987.

Fact 334: When did Banksy paint Corrupted Oil Jerry? Banksy's Corrupted Oil Jerry, also called Crude Oil Jerry, was created by Banksy in 2003 and is stencil art by Banksy on oil painting. Banksy created the piece using a stencil of the mouse Jerry (from Tom and Jerry) on an oil painting. 

Fact 333: When did Banksy first paint sweep it under the carpet? Banksy's Sweep it Under the Carpet first appeared on a wall on Chalk Farm Road, North London in 2006. Banksy created the piece using a stencil. Banksy said the maid was of a real maid who he met in L.A, Banksy literally said “This is a portrait of a maid called Leanne who cleaned my room in a Los Angeles motel." Although in the Banksy story (which is a bbc podcast) Steph Warren, who worked for banksy from 2004 to 2007 said she posed for Banksy to create the piece.

Fact 332: When did Banksy first paint Flower Thrower? Banksy's Flower Thrower, also known as Love Is In The Air, LIITA for short and to some Ganster Flower Thrower, was first painted in Jerusalem in 2003 as a large stencil art work by Banksy.  Banksy first painted Flower Thrower using a stencil and spray paint in 2003 on the wall of a garage in Jerusalem (on the main road to Beit Sahour, Bethlehem) and near the West Bank Wall which is the 760km wall that separates Palestine from Israel.

Fact 331: When did Banksy paint Girl With Balloon? Girl With Balloon, also known as Balloon Girl and in some cases referred to as, Girl With A Balloon, was first painted in London in 2002.  Banksy originally painted girl with balloon using a stencil in 2002 on the wall infront of the Waterloo Bridge stairs in London, Southbank.

Fact 330: How many paintings did Bob Ross paint? Bob Ross, who's full name is, Robert Norman Ross. Bob Ross was born on the 29th October, 1942, Daytona Beach, Florida, U.S.—died on the 4th July, 1995, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Bob Ross painted an estimated 30,000 paintings during his lifetime however Bob Ross paintings are scarce in the art market making the pieces that are in the art market very valuable.

Fact 329: How many Banksy Di-Faced Tenners are there in the world? There are around 100,000 Di-Faced (as in Princess Diana faced) Tenners in "circulation", because Banksy printed £1million worth of Di-Faced Tenner notes for a stunt Banksy did in 2004. Banksy admitted to forging a total of £100 million Di-Faced Tenner notes, most of which are still owed by Banksy. Banksy admitted to this in his 2010 documentary, film Exit Through The Gift Shop in which he shows Terri Guetta a cardboard box full of Di-Faced Tenners.  The British Museum has a Di-Faced Tenner on display in the room with real and fake coins, metals and other currency stuff and I have actually seen the Banksy Di-Faced £10 note in the British Museum. Fact 328: When was Wall and Piece first published? Wall and Piece is a book about Banksy written by Banksy (and yes I have the book) it showcases Banksy's work in an easy to read and understand book from his most famous pieces to the less well-known pieces and it has pictures of animals Banksy spay painted (with animal friendly spray paint used by farmers). My favourite bit of the book is when Banksy tells us he spray-painted "Designated Grafiti Area" in and around London and people actually believed the sign and thought it was real, despite the sign being misspelt! The book Wall and Piece was originally first published In 2005 (the British Library have a copie).

Fact 327: How many people went to the CUT AND RUN Banksy exhibition? The CUT AND RUN Banksy exhibition started on the 18th Jun and firsted on the 28th Aug 2023. I went to the exhibition on the 22nd. Just over 180,000 visitors + visitors turned up to see the amazing exhibition during its 10-week run, it literally closed on Monday.  The CUT AND RUN Banksy exhibition showcased 25 years of Banksy's stencil (used to create impressive) Street art. The CUT AND RUN Banksy exhibition was hled in room one of the Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art because Banksy liked the Glasgow local tradition of sticking a cone on the Duke of Wellington statue outside the gallery, Banksy said something on the lines of the tradition has been going on for 40 odd years despite the police and council tying to stop it which is why I chose Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art as my location. I took both these photos!

Fact 326: Why is Leake Street Arches a legal graffiti area? Leake Street Arches is a legal graffiti in London near Waterloo Station which is also known as the Banksy tunnel or Banksy Arches it is a legal graffiti area because Banksy chose it as the location for Cans festival basically Banksy hosted an exhibition called The Cans Festival in Leake Street Arches, from 3rd to the 5th May in 2008 and ever since Leake Street Arches has been a legal graffiti area, all thanks to Banksy (the genius). Fact 325: What is Banksy's documentary called? Banksy's Documentary the 2010 movie was directed by the street artist Banksy which was nominated for an Oscar (but unfortunately didn't win) was called Exit Through the Gift Shop, Banksy was the director of the documentary which seams to originally to be a film about Banksy and other graffiti artists (like shepard fairy) but mainly Banksy interestingly turns in to a documentary about the camera man and then artist Mr Brainwash, Thierry Guetta.

Fact 324: Has Banksy hung his own art works in galleries amusement parks and museums with out permission? The answer is yes Banksy has snuck into places and hung his art up from 2003-2005 or 2006 if you count Disneyland!
