Fact 186: Is the Bayeux Tapestry a tapestry?




Interestingly, despite its name, the Bayeux Tapestry is in fact an embroidery made with woollen thread on a linen cloth. The Bayeux Tapestry tells the story from the Norman's perspective of, the Battle of Hastings in 1066 between William (commonly known as William the conqueor) and Harold Godwinson.
