Fact 129: What do RATs do on the out side of sky scrapers?

First of all sorry because the question and the picture is (in my opinion cleverly however) sightly misleading because I am not referring to the animal I am referring to what (in this scenario) RATs stands for and that are: Rope Access Technicians (RATs). They are basically window cleaners, maintenance, inspectors, building surveyors and construction workers. RATs are always connected to two ropes one is a back up (which is helpfully called the back up rope) and they absale down and up really tall buildings were scaffolding and a cables would be to difficult or in other words to high up, or even to dangerous to be used. On the back up rope it has a back up device that stops the rope from moving basically a safety catch called a Mobile fall arrester for rope, this is also known as the duck which is similar to what is used at\for some climbing wall based activities, this is connected to a lanyard called the cows tail (the lanyard is already connected to there harness and the safety catch) and then the safety catch is is connected to the backup rope this means that if one rope fails the person should be okay because the rope will just stop. RATs use a foot hoop, on the non backup rope this is called working line. The RATs uses a descender to go down and a nother clip thing called a hand ascender to go up, when using the hand ascender they also are connected on working line by there harness by a special clip (only when using the ascender though). Basically RATs are able to ascend and decend on the working rope by changing the devices clip that is connected to the work line. To ascend the RATs use the hand ascender and by using the foot hoop and basically from what I can work out, yes, I found a video of someone talking though it in a training video (the video for reference) so, by going to a sitting down position, by bringing there knees up and pushing the hand ascender up and then going in to a standing up position by pushing down with there foot in the foot hoops and To decend the RATs use the descender the RATs connect (clip) the descender before removing the hand ascender, then they un clip the hand ascender and clip the foot loop on to it and then clip the hand ascender and foot loop to the harness and now they can descend using the descender by belaying themselves down or by pulling on a lever and if they push the lever in the opposite direction it locks (stops) and they can do what they need to do.
