Fact 209: Who was the shortest reigning English monarch?

The answer is Lady Jane Grey, she was actually fifth in line to the throne, however
John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland persuaded the dying king Edward VI to leave his crown to Lady Jane Grey because Edward wanted England to stay Protestant and he knew that Mary would take England back to being Catholic and Lady Jane Grey was a protestant and She just happened to be coincidentally John Dudley's daughter-in- law. after Edward died Lady Jane Grey was proclaimed Queen after the death of her cousin, the protestant King Edward VI,
However Queen Mary I didn't like this and had a better claim to the throne so Lady Jane and her husband, were kept in the Tower of London, and were beheaded on the 19th July 1553. Lady Jane Grey was just sixteen and only Queen for nine days from 10th to the 19th July 1553.
