Fact 151: Where do groundhogs spend most of their time?

This answer may surprise you to know that groundhogs spend most of their time in elaborate underground burrows which are anywhere between 8 feet and 66 feet (20.117 metres) long. The burrows are a complex system of tunnels with multiple exits and several chambers or 'rooms' with different purposes such as for sleeping and for raising their young.
Groundhogs are also known as woodchucks.

Groundhogs will block off all of their burrows entrances before hibernating through winter. Groundhogs hibernate from October through until February.
