Fact 26: Why are Guinea pigs called Guinea pigs?
The name ‘Guinea pig’ can be traced back to the 16th-century when they were originally priced in England. This is because they could be bought for one guinea each (a guinea is an old coin) however nobody really knows the “pig” came from, some people think it’s because they apparently resemble small pigs i mean don’t think this, the other reason is the noses are a little similar to a pigs, other than that they don’t look like pigs.
